Early Life and Career
Francisco Pizarro González was born in Trujillo, Extremadura, Spain, on March 16, 1478. As a young man, he served in the Spanish military and participated in expeditions to the Caribbean and Central America.
Conquest of Peru
In 1531, Pizarro led an expedition to Peru with Diego de Almagro and Hernando de Luque. Despite facing significant challenges, they eventually conquered the Inca Empire and founded the city of Lima in 1535.
Pizarro's conquest of Peru was marked by both brutality and greed. He executed the Inca emperor Atahualpa and looted the empire's vast wealth. However, he also established Spanish rule in the region.
